Print PDF

On Saturday 17th October 2009 a team of 13 swimmers from Saxon Crown SC Tiger Sharks section travelled to Mile End Park Leisure Centre for the Interborough Championship.

In 2008 Tiger Sharks competed in the gala for the first time and came a very creditable 2nd. This year they went one better and WON the event beating the borough of Greenwich who have won for the past 7 years.

The Lewisham team members included some who have progressed from being non swimmers as well as 1 of the Tiger Sharks Teachers, 1 of their Head Teachers and their Head Coach. Transport was kindly provided by Lewisham Council who have been very supportive of the Tiger Sharks – without this support Tiger Sharks would not have been able to compete in the gala. Parents/carers travelled with the swimmers and provided a very vocal support throughout the event. Tiger Sharks Head Teacher (Ladywell section) Loretta Kirby was Team Manager.

Team Members were Caroline Gray Head Disability Coach, Lauren Kirby Head Teacher (Downham section), Jamie Rushbrook Teacher, Shontee Mitchell, Ellie May Melaugh, Amelia Johnstone, Charlotte Summers, Daniel Mc Given, Stephen Bailey, Pascal Downie Dear, Brandon Berry, Ethan Hammock and William Lawler who was also celebrating his 13th birthday.
