Performance C Squad (Max 24 swimmers)

Age range:

Minimum Age 11

Aims:

This group is aimed at swimmers who are close to and looking to achieve County and Regional qualifying times.

By this stage swimmers should have swimming as a priority and a good understanding of the importance of training to succeed, demonstrating a consistent will to push and improve themselves.

Abilities:

Able to swim 2500 - 3500 metre training session (with intervals between sets).

Able to perform the four competitive strokes as specified above under general and specific criteria headings.

Able to start, turn and finish as specified above under specific criteria.

To demonstrate stamina and endurance levels for 1500 metres + training sessions.

To show a willingness to learn.

Able to carry out instructions issued by the coach.

Swimmers who wish to join Performance C Squad must have a tracked record of personal bests in many of the events including 400 meters events. They must also be able to swim training sets at the slowest of the current squads send-off times.

Attendance:

Swimmers should attend at least 4 of 6 swim sessions per week on a regular basis or at least 75% of weekly training.

Swimmers will be required to enter competitions, race nights and club championship at least once per month according to the fixture list and attend team events when selected.

Working towards:

To enter open meets as planned and other events advised and organised by the club.

To attend regularly open meets, club race nights, club champs and team events when selected.

Achieve Kent qualifying times.

Progression to Performance B Squad upon accomplishment of Performance B squad training criteria.

  • Swimming goggles + spare;
  • Water bottle;
  • Kick board;
  • Pull buoy;
  • Short fins;
  • Paddles.
